The Tennessee Education Association ‘s mission statement is to promote, advance, and protect public education, the education profession, and the rights and interests of its members.

The TEA strategic objectives are to define and pursue improvement and appropriate funding for quality public education. to advocate autonomy, appropriate preparation and the highest standard for the education profession, promote opportunities for professional development, seek compensation ,and working conditions necessary to attract and retain highly qualified education employees, to initiate, preserve and strengthen advocacy programs, and enroll its maximum membership potential and encourage greater member participation in the organization,
