Vine Middle Magnet Core Mentoring Program

Vine Middle Magnet recognizes that our students are our future, but our teachers are our present.  Our novice teachers are entering a world that at times will be stressful, at other times it will be challenging, but most of all - it is a rewarding voyage.  Rewarding in the sense that they are touching lives and bringing about changes that will benefit many generations.  Teachers have a great responsibility to empower students to function at high levels in order to provide for themselves and their future families.  At Vine, our mentoring team feels this same responsibility making certain the novice teachers succeed because we are a family.  The mentor provides a nurturing model with the answers or at least access to answers that help our novice teachers have a positive experience.

              Mentoring at our school has taken a new direction with a more focused approach by providing a notebook filled with basic information about the school as well as the program.   Our novice teachers have been teamed with a mentor that is knowledgeable about his/her subject areas, but they have access to all team members when in search of assistance.             

Specific areas that will be addressed with our novice teachers are:  discipline, special education responsibilities, parent conferencing, report cards and grading, interdisciplinary procedures, United Streaming, TCAP procedures, and end–of–the-year checkout.
